Having opened in March during the pandemic, V Wine Salon in Abbotsford is a must-visit post-lockdown. The V stands for multiple meanings – the first being that of the co-founder and Head Sommelier Vianney Establet, but also for vin (wine), vie (life), and Victoria Street, where the salon is located.
The ethos and philosophy for this beautiful venue is that amazing wine should be accessible, that hospitality should be about people, and that the artists, makers, and small scale producers should be celebrated over labels and brands.
The space is unique with a beautiful circular, communal table as its centerpiece, dotted around by some tables and a couple of nooks you can sit in, framed by grey walls as well as white and terracotta tiles.
With the focus on wine, you can order a cheese platter or my personal favourite, baked brie with truffle and honey or on some nights, you can order from other local eateries in the area, to enjoy with your wine.
